Jane is a treasure trove of wisdom who I initially discovered through the transformational, participatory, experiential Systemic Constellations workshops she facilitates locally at her farm in Oregon. In this interview, she shares her insights into the wisdom of the body, the social brain, personal agency, roles and relationships, and systemic change.

Jane Peterson, PhD is the founder of the Human Systems Institute, Inc. She has traveled the world engaging in transformational work at both group and individual levels. She facilitates and teaches Systemic Constellations, an embodied, relational approach to change. Her workshops and private consulting sessions facilitate somatic healing of the relational structures we are embedded in.

Earlier this week I conversed with Helen Joyce. While under any other circumstances I would have loved to interview her, in this conversation, Helen actually interviewed me; she wanted to hear the story of my recent victory defending myself against false allegations of “conversion therapy.” Helen hopes to use this story to help her team demonstrate to UK officials how including “gender identity change efforts” in its "conversion therapy bans” could backfire.

While I’ve still yet to release several episodes I recorded months prior to launch, and most current recordings won’t appear until later this summer, this topic is very timely, so I’ve asked my producer to help me speed up its release, and am planning to share it in the near future as a bonus between regularly scheduled Monday episodes. Stay tuned!

While we’re on the subject of the gender crisis…

I have been extended a special opportunity to join several detransitioners, parents and other concerned citizens in Florida on July 8 to explain to medical and legal authorities why youth should not be medically experimented on with drugs and surgeries that cause permanent infertility, anorgasmia, early onset osteoporosis, and a host of other horrific health problems.

The aforementioned interview with Helen Joyce makes this my second opportunity in the first month since achieving my own victory to use my story to help others speak out against the harms of gender medicalization and advocate for its victims. It brings me great fulfillment to be able to help others in this way.

This is a long overdue opportunity to meet online acquaintances in person, and I hope to bring levity to the occasion by treating hard-working warriors on the front lines of the gender battle to refreshments afterward. So I set up a GoFundMe campaign, playfully titled Daquiris for Detransitioners, for anyone who would like to chip in to the libations. Every little bit is appreciated.

The goal is currently set to $500, although I might raise it when I find out the numbers of people who will be joining us; the organizers are trying to bring in as many voices as possible. The funds will be transparent, receipts available to contributors and attendees.

Anything left over will be donated to the wonderful folks at Partners for Ethical Care, who have been a tremendous help to me while doing great work to protect children. Jennifer of PEC shared her story in Episode 3, and the organization is currently embarking on a project of mailing postcards to therapists around the US to provide resources on gender, including their podcast, The Witness; Gender, A Wider Lens; and, gratefully, You Must Be Some Kind of Therapist Podcast as well. With all they have done for me and for parents around the country, choosing PEC as the recipient of any excess funds was a no-brainer.

You Must Be Some Kind of Therapist has hit some encouraging milestones early on: over 1,200 audio downloads and 1,800 YouTube views in its first month. With each new episode averaging 90 audio downloads in its first 7 days, listenership has soared into the top 25% of podcasts!

That being said, YouTube trolls can take a toll. My channel seems to have attracted its first hater, who left every nasty comment they could. As trolls often do, this one mischaracterized and misquoted me and my guests. My settings hold all comments for review, block certain aggressive words, and allow me to prohibit any given individual from engaging, so things can’t get out of hand, but it would be lovely to see more of your words of encouragement to balance out any future negativity I might encounter when reviewing comments. So, if you see something you like, it would put a smile on my face to see you give that video a thumbs-up and comment on what moved you.
