Hatred isn’t Cool: An Unpopular Opinion

Every day I grapple with the bizarre question of why this is a contested position in 2021. I think about what I might write on the topic, but dread and overwhelm often stop me before I can start. Today I decided it’s better to write something brief than nothing at all.

What the fuck are we doing?

I mean, maybe, dear reader, what the fuck are you doing? I’m not sure if this applies to you or not, but it applies to a shocking number of people who I would otherwise have thought would be above this kind of nonsense, so, who knows. Anyway, what I mean is,

It’s not fucking cool to hate people.

F-word repeated for emphasis.

Do you think that sounds obvious? Do you believe you agree? Okay, then, let’s make sure we have a few things straight.

“People” includes men.

“People” includes white skinned people.

“People” includes heterosexual people.

FFS, “people” even includes Christians, Republicans, and whoever else you want to throw in there.

It’s not fucking cool to hate people on the basis of race, sex, class, sexual orientation, or religion.

Don’t be a hypocrite, or a spineless brainwashed sheep. You call yourself liberal? You think you believe in equality, dignity, progress, human rights? You've got a log in your own eye, my friend.

End rant.
